Phase 1: Swordsman Balance Update

Swordsman Balance Update

Reinforcing the Swordsman Battlefield Control

Swordsman has always been one of the most reliable frontline classes in Ran.

Strong melee pressure.
Reliable control tools.
Dominant frontline presence.

However, over time several gaps became clear during real PvP encounters.

Swordsman could engage and pressure targets effectively, but the class often lacked the tools to fully disrupt enemy momentum.

In many situations enemies could simply:

  • recover through buffs
  • escape through mobility
  • heal through potions

This balance update focuses on strengthening the Swordsman’s role as a battlefield controller and frontline disruptor.

The goal is simple:
When a Swordsman enters a fight, enemy positioning and momentum should become significantly harder to maintain.

The Core Problem

Swordsman already has a strong combat foundation.

  • Solid melee damage
  • Reliable frontline durability
  • Multiple AoE combat tools

But many skills lacked meaningful secondary effects that could influence the flow of combat.

This meant Swordsman pressure was often damage-focused rather than control-focused.

The new adjustments strengthen Swordsman’s ability to disrupt enemies through:

  • buff removal
  • potion denial
  • movement disruption
  • stun pressure

These tools help Swordsman maintain control of the battlefield.

Skill Changes Explained

Crimson Lightning — Momentum Breaker
  • Added Remove Skill Effect: removes all enemy positive buffs
  • Added Moving Speed Reduction: -8% → -18% at Master Level

Crimson Lightning now disrupts enemy preparations by stripping active buffs.

The added movement slow helps Swordsman maintain pressure and prevent escapes.

Provoke — Frontline Control
  • Added Attack Speed Reduction: -8% → -18%
  • Added Amplify (All Types)
  • Critical Hit Chance: 10% → 18%
  • Damage Gain: 5% → 10%
  • Added Special Immune Effect: Hit the Camera

Provoke now reinforces Swordsman’s frontline disruption.

Enemies affected will attack slower while the Swordsman gains improved offensive pressure.

Glacier Tornado — Control Zone
  • Added Stun: 0.6 → 2.2 seconds at Master Level
  • Now applies Prohibit Using Potion

Glacier Tornado now provides a stronger crowd control window.

The added potion restriction prevents enemies from immediately recovering after being stunned.

Electric Sparkler — Buff Disruption
  • Added Stun: 0.6 → 2.2 seconds at Master Level
  • Added Remove Skill Effect: removes all enemy positive buffs

This skill now acts as a strong setup tool.

By removing buffs and applying stun, it prepares targets for follow-up attacks.

Bone Smasher — Damage Amplifier
  • Now applies Prohibit Using Potion
  • Added Amplify (All Types)
  • Hit Chance: 12% → 22%
  • Damage Gain: 6% → 12%

Bone Smasher now helps secure pressure during fights.

The potion seal and amplification increase the chance of securing damage during engagement windows.

Blazes Soar — Damage Pressure
  • Added Critical Hit Chance: 20% → 35%
  • Added Continuous Damage: 180 → 360

Blazes Soar now increases sustained damage output.

The continuous damage component helps apply additional pressure during combat.

Sickle Haze — Buff Removal
  • Added Remove Skill Effect: removes all enemy positive buffs
  • Added Moving Speed Reduction: -8% → -18%

Sickle Haze further strengthens Swordsman’s ability to disrupt enemy mobility and preparation.

Furious Slash — Full Engagement Tool
  • Added Pull: 180 → 240 at Master Level
  • Added Amplify (All Types): 12% → 22% Hit Chance / 6% → 12% Damage Gain
  • Added Stun: 0.6 → 2.2 seconds
  • Added Steal Hp: 5% → 12%

Furious Slash now becomes a complete engagement skill.

It pulls enemies into position, applies stun, increases damage potential, and provides a small sustain window through life steal.

What This Means for Gameplay

Swordsman now has stronger battlefield disruption tools.

Before:

  • Swordsman dealt reliable damage but had limited disruption tools.

After:

  • Swordsman can strip buffs, slow enemies, seal potions, and apply stronger crowd control.

This allows the class to influence the pace and structure of fights more effectively.

The Bigger Balance Picture

This update is part of the broader class balance initiative to ensure each class has a clear identity and role in combat.

For Swordsman, that identity is now reinforced as:

Frontline Battlefield Controller

  • strong disruption
  • reliable crowd control
  • buff removal pressure
  • stable frontline combat presence

A class designed to control the flow of battle and prevent enemies from maintaining momentum.

What We Will Monitor

After deployment we will monitor:

  • Swordsman crowd control uptime
  • buff removal effectiveness in PvP
  • potion seal impact during engagements
  • overall frontline balance

Balance will continue to evolve based on real gameplay data and community feedback.
